Mary Ruth Liquid Probiotic Review (My Experience)
I have been searching for the best vegan probiotic supplement for a number of months now. I have boxes & containers stacked up in my bedroom now.
As a sufferer of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), there are many unpleasant and uncomfortable symptoms that I have to experience regularly.
Alternating periods of diarrhea and constipation, gas, and difficulty sleeping. Perhaps the worst effects are the mental effects that result from these physical symptoms.
These include stress and anxiety from having to plan every aspect of my life around the constantly changing condition of my bowel and inability to relax in social situations, to depression that comes from this inability to let go, have fun and enjoy life.
Keep reading to see if this helped me 🙂
Can Mary Ruth's ProBiotics Help?
I had heard many promising claims about probiotic supplements, both from online reviews and from friends and colleagues in real life.
Probiotics are bacteria that have beneficial effects on the health of your gut and immune system and are recommended to people with issues with the digestive system.
Probiotics are commonly found in dairy foods - however, as somebody with a vegan diet, these products are of no help to me. (1)
Thankfully, you can experience the positive effects of probiotics by simply taking probiotic supplements. There is a wide range of probiotic supplements available on the market from various brands, with varying reputations among users.
One popular brand is Mary Ruth’s - in this review, I will be exploring my experience Mary Ruth’s Liquid Probiotic, and how the results compared to other probiotic supplement products out there.
Unlike the other probiotic supplements that I have reviewed, Mary Ruth’s Liquid Probiotic is a liquid spray, rather than capsules or gummies.
What is Mary Ruth’s?
Mary Ruth Organics is a Los Angeles-based company founded by someone called (no surprises) Mary Ruth.
Mary Ruth’s offers a wide range of health supplement products that contain only natural, vegan ingredients.
The company has recently released a probiotic product in capsule form, although I opted for the Liquid Probiotic product. They also offer probiotic products for pets! The product that I ordered cost between $23.95 - $44.95 from the company’s official site, which is the same price that it is currently listed on Amazon.
Like the company’s other products, this product came with free shipping, and the site advertised discount options for buying bundles. Mary Ruth's also offers good customer support, and a 100% refund policy which also includes letting you keep the product for free.
My Experience with Mary Ruth's
I took one or two sprays of the liquid probiotic three times a day. The first spray was first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach before I had my breakfast. The second time, I sprayed some directly into my afternoon coffee, which masked the taste (which, to be honest, is perfectly tolerable anyway). The final spray of the day was the last time at night before bed. Find out more about when to take probiotics here.
I noticed that after around two weeks, my stomach noticeably settled - with a significant reduction in stomach pain and bloating! I also noticed my bowel movements starting to become more regular and less unpredictable. These effects continued until the end of the month, and I am going to be ordering another of the same product to hopefully continue to feel the benefits.
The reduction of unpleasant physical symptoms meant that I was able to be more social and more relaxed when in social situations, without having to worry about discomfort, embarrassing dashes to the bathroom, or wondering which food/drink choices in the restaurant or at the bar might set off my IBS symptoms. Mary Ruth's Ingredients
Mary Ruth’s Liquid Probiotic contains the following probiotic strains:
Like Belive & Naturelo Probiotics, this supplement is also 100% vegan, and certified Organic by the USDA. The ingredients are entirely raw and plant-based, and the product is completely free from GMOs, dairy, nuts, gluten, wheat, soy, corn, nightshade, and sugar.
It is suitable for vegans (which was the main concern for me), as well as being paleo-friendly, keto-friendly, celica-friendly, bariatric-friendly, and suitable for adults and children.
Each full spray gives you a 625,000 CFU count which suggests you need quite a few sprays to get a good dose of colony forming units.
Mary Ruth’s Liquid Probiotic Reviews
As well as doing my own tests, I decided to check out some of the reviews of this product on Amazon to see what other customers thought.Although some users mentioned side-effects such as an initial increase in bowel movements in the first couple of weeks (which is common with most probiotics), and the product potentially being unsuitable for lactose-intolerant people (due to the Lactobacillus acidophilus strain).
Customers rated the product highly (it currently has a four-and-a-half-star overall rating) and claimed that in comparison to many other probiotic products, it was extremely effective in combating the symptoms from digestive issues like acid reflux to ibs.
Mary Ruth’s Liquid Probiotic spray is a high-quality probiotic.
It offered noticeable and fairly quick relief from my symptoms of IBS. Not just for myself.
Many of the other customers who left reviews online for Mary Ruth's Liquid Probiotic that I read had similar results.
I placed this Probiotic at Number 4 in my list of the best vegan probiotics of 2021.
I would highly recommend it along with any of the others on this list!
