Many people believe that nutritional supplements for "Leaky Gut" are all a scam.

I am going to dive in deep and in my honest Total Restore Review, try to figure out if it is worth buying.

Who Is Dr Steven Gundry?

Dr Steven Gundry is an American doctor, former cardiac surgeon, and author.

Dr Gundry is considered a pioneer in heart transplant surgery for infants, and has more recently become known for writing the best-selling book The Plant Paradox: The Hidden Dangers in "Healthy" Foods That Cause Disease and Weight Gain.

Dr Gundry currently runs his own clinic and specializes in theories around nutrition and digestive health. He also has an extensive range of dietary supplements. Dr Gundry’s theories center around lectins—a certain type of protein found in many foods.

Dr Gundry believes that lectins are responsible for a variety of health problems, specifically centered around digestion and the health of the gut.

Gastroenterologist's Thoughts On Gut Health

I asked Dr. Sara Mesilhy a Gastroenterologist on our medical team to highlight the importance of our gut health.

She told me that "Our Gut health is an essential and core part of our overall health, it has many essential functions; basically, it helps digest and absorb all the nutrients that maintain our body, secretes some hormones, acts as a barrier to many harmful subjects; toxins, viruses, fungus, bacteria, and other materials and help avoid some disorders like chronic diseases, autoimmune disorders."

She also told me that the gut "contains 80% of the immune system; starting from the saliva, stomach acids, and lastly, the beneficial microbiota it contains, which prevent other harmful bacteria from invading our body." so if Total Restore could help with gut health it could potentially have a big overall impact.

What Does Total Restore Claim To Do?

Total Restore is one of Dr Gundry’s nutritional supplements that is designed to combat a common complaint known as “leaky gut”, which Dr Gundry believes is a cause of digestive issues, abdominal discomfort, fatigue, cravings, and weight issues. Check out my leaky gut probiotics guide here.

Dr Gundry’s company claims that Total Restore can naturally strengthen the cells of the lining of the gut, protecting the gut against the effects of lectins, which bind to the cells and weaken the lining. This weakening of the gut lining can supposedly lead to leaky gut and the aforementioned symptoms.

Total Restore is advertised as an effective way to reduce problems such as gas, bloating, digestive discomfort, and even discomfort in the joints.

Gundry MD also claims that reducing these problems can have positive mental benefits, such as increasing focus, energy, and mood, and fighting unwanted food cravings.

There are no medical studies proving any of these claims so we simply have to rely on customer reviews. Total Restore is not a replacement for any medical prescriptions. You should always contact a medical professional for any health issues. I am not a doctor.

What Is Leaky Gut?

“Leaky gut” is a colloquial term that refers to intestinal hyperpermeability. Intestinal hyperpermeability happens when parts of the intestinal wall are weakened by lectins, causing tiny gaps to form in the digestive tract. These gaps enable harmful substances to pass into the bloodstream, which may cause various digestive problems and unwanted symptoms.

It is not just Dr Gundry who believes this theory—studies have linked intestinal hyperpermeability with various chronic health conditions such as Diabetes, Celiac disease, and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Total Restore was developed by Dr Gundry to help combat leaky gut and the health issues that it is believed to cause.

The Total Restore formula includes many natural ingredients, of which these are the main ones:

L-Glutamine

L-Glutamine is an essential amino acid for digestion. The body produces its own L-Glutamine, but it can also be a beneficial ingredient in supplements. There is evidence to suggest that L-Glutamine may increase production of microbes in the gut that are used to maintain digestion and body weight. It also may reduce inflammation and possibly help maintain the integrity of intestinal cells.

Grape Seed Extract

Grape Seed extract contains a number of helpful antioxidants and has been linked to various health benefits such as possibly reducing cholesterol levels, boosting circulation, and in some cases repairing nerve damage. Studies have found that the ingredient could also improve the integrity of the intestinal walls.

N-Acetyl-D-Glucosamine

Glucosamine is found in body tissues such as bone cartilage. It is also believed that glucosamine can potentially play an important role in maintaining the health of your joints. N-acetyl D-glucosamine is believed to possibly provide a natural barrier between some types of lectins and the intestinal walls.

PepZin GL()  

PepZin GL() is a blend of zinc and L-carnosine. Zinc is a mineral believed to have benefits in reducing the symptoms of Crohn’s disease for sufferers. L-carnosine is a protein compound believed to benefit the immune system. Both substances might play roles in repairing cells and decreasing intestinal permeability.  

Magnesium Beta-Hydroxybutyrate

Magnesium Beta-hydroxybutyrate, also known as MBH, is a ketone that is believed to help naturally increase energy levels for some people. MBH may also help the body to lose weight (although consuming too much MBH can have adverse health effects).

Black Pepper

Black pepper is a common ingredient used to add flavor to food. What is less well-known than the culinary uses of black pepper are the dietary benefits—black pepper is believed to increase the stomach’s production of the hydrochloric acid needed to digest food and absorb its nutrients. The carminative properties of the ingredient may also reduce the likelihood and severity of gas, bloating, and indigestion.

Total Restore comes in capsule form, and the recommended dosage is 3 capsules a day with your largest meal, or each capsule can be taken with a different meal if preferred. 

I decided to take all 3 capsules with my dinner. Each capsule was small so I had no trouble or discomfort swallowing them!

It is recommended to take these capsules with water, which can help you to swallow them more easily as well as reducing the likelihood of experiencing any potential side-effects.

Is Total Restore a Probiotic?

Unlike other digestion-related supplements I have tested and reviewed, Total Restore is not a probiotic supplement.

It does not contain any probiotic strains, as the supplement was designed to take a different approach to solving digestive issues than probiotic supplements do.

Total Restore is designed to nourish the intestinal lining and help prevent leaky gut, rather than to stimulate the production of good bacteria, which is what probiotics do.

These two approaches are different, although can be used together concurrently. In fact, using Total Restore alongside probiotic supplements can also boost the efficacy of the probiotics! 

Side Effects

It is worth mentioning that, as Total Restore contains traces of shellfish, it is not strictly suitable for vegans or those with allergies to shellfish. However, all ingredients are 100% natural, and the product is free of sugar, artificial sweeteners, soy, dairy, and lectins.

Licorice root is believed to possibly contribute to high blood pressure and low levels of potassium in high doses, but the low dose in this supplement seems unlikely to trigger this effect. Grapefruit seed extract is also recommended to be avoided if you are taking statins or similar medications.

Some online reviews mention experiencing side effects like nausea, dizziness, and diarrhea, although most reviews are positive. I didn’t experience any of these side effects myself, although it is always worth remembering that different people have different reactions to supplements, especially those related to digestion!

Total Restore Reviews

The vast majority of reviews I spent hours digging through were positive for Total Restore. Let's take a look at some of the Total Restore reviews I found.

Diane felt that she felt no difference at all after taking Total Restore. She wasn't alone on this and there were others who did not benefit from Total Restore.

Most of the customer reviews I found on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube Comments and Amazon did mention that they did notice benefits with their digestive systems. 

B. McGill shared that both him and his wife noticed improvements after taking Total Restore and Mamashell mentioned their gut had fewer issues since taking the supplement.

It's quite clear Total Restore doesn't help everyone but I don't think it's a scam. You can always get a refund if you are not satisfied.

I think one major con of Total Restore is that it doesn't have probiotic bacteria so the effect on the digestive system may be limited. Another con is that Total Restore doesn't contain prebiotic fiber which is vital for probiotic bacteria to grow.

How Does Total Restore Compare?

One popular probiotic for "leaky gut" symptoms is Renew Life Ultimate Flora which claims to improve gut health and address symptoms such as gas, bloating and discomfort. It differs from Total Restore in that it includes a blend of 15 probiotic strains, while Total Restore focuses on a specific blend of non probiotic ingredients like L-Glutamine and N-Acetyl-D-Glucosamine.

Another popular option for addressing "leaky gut" is the supplement, Dr. Tobias Leaky Gut Support and whilst I haven't tried this yet it does have over 5,600+ real positive customer reviews. It also includes L-Glutamine and N-Acetyl-D-Glucosamine, but has additional ingredients such as Aloe Vera and Marshmallow root.

Total Restore stands out by its blend of ingredients and its specific focus on "leaky gut" symptoms compared to a lot of other supplements. I am also sure you are aware that it was created by Dr. Steven Gundry, who is a well-known expert in the field of nutrition and gut health.

Final Thoughts 

Based on the medical studies I have researched I believe that Leaky Gut is a legitimate condition. I also believe it can be helped through diet without supplements.

The Total Restore Reviews that I read do confirm that Steven Gundry's supplement worked well for many different people.

I don't believe that Total Restore is a scam. I think that the supplement is legitimate, genuine and safe to use.

Bacillus Coagulans

Bacillus coagulans is a soil-based probiotic known for its ability to produce lactic acid and survive harsh conditions that other probiotic bacteria cannot survive. A 2021 study authored by AK Gupta, found that B Coagulans was safe and improved for helping with IBS symptoms like bloating, cramping, and diarrhea.

SunFiber

Probiotic bacteria are limited in their growth without Prebiotic fiber so 200mg of SunFiber is included as an ingredient. Sunfiber soluble fiber is said to be low-FODMAP certified, gluten-free, and non-GMO according to their website.

Bio Complete 3 also contains microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, silica, magnesium stearate and have recently also added Sunflower Oil which is disappointing.

Bio Complete 3 Side Effects & Safety

Most of the ingredients used in Bio Complete 3 are considered safe and are also found in other probiotics and dietary supplements. Not many other probiotics contain Tributyrin, and the addition of this triglyceride, which is also found in butter, sets Bio Complete apart from other similar probiotics.

Tributyrin is a precursor to butyrate, and several studies have shown how it helps in reducing inflammation and insulin resistance associated with obesity. A 2021 study authored by MT Siddiqui, discussed the positive effect of butyrate on immune system functions. Tributyrin is used as a dietary supplement, and Bio Complete 3 offers an unmatched combination of Probiotics, Prebiotics, and Tributyrin.

Bacillus Coagulans has been long used and is safe and beneficial for the human gut. A 2022 study authored by Y Wang, found this Bacillus coagulans may help reduce inflammation and immune response, which often causes the inflammation in the first place.

The effect of Bacillus Coagulans on arthritis and other joint and muscle conditions has also been studied. A 2010 study authored by DR Mandel, suggest that Bacillus Coagulans is entirely safe and can help you with several health conditions ranging from inflammation to joint health.

There are some reports of side effects like Stomach Pain, Chills and Bloating with Bacillus Coagulans according to WebMD.

Bio Complete 3 Weight Loss

Bio Complete 3 claims to support weight loss and overall gut health but there is a lack of concrete evidence to confirm its effectiveness in promoting weight loss.

The way they claim Bio Complete 3 can help with weight loss is by boosting butyrate levels and helping with symptoms of a leaky gut.

Supposedly this can help with cravings for unhealthy food.

In my experience trying many different Probiotics can help with weight loss. The caveat to that though is they are a not "magic pill" and won't do all the work for you.

You still need to eat a healthy diet and exercise.

Bio Complete 3 claims to support weight management and overall gut health. However, there is a lack of concrete evidence to confirm its effectiveness in promoting weight loss.

Its weight loss properties are not firmly established, and results may vary from person to person.

Most reviews left by past customers of Bio Complete 3 are positive, and I will be sharing some of those Bio Complete 3 Reviews with you now. 

D. Eason says that he felt significant improvement in his longstanding digestive issues after taking 4 Bio Complete capsules a day for a week. He also cautions that a person needs to take the recommended dosage of 4 capsules and not 1 day for the maximum benefit.

As a certified nutritionist my clients often ask me for advice on losing weight. This often includes recommendations for probiotic supplements of which I have many years of experience testing.

In this review, I will analyse the ingredient profile, go over the side effects, cover some real reviews, teach you how to use the supplement and compare it to some other probiotic supplements I have tried.

Below I will analyze various clinical studies that have tested the Bio X4 ingredients for weight loss in humans to figure out if bio x4 can help you lose weight or not.

1. Lactobacillus Acidophilus Helps With Weight Reduction

A Randomized controlled study published in March, 2020 in the Scientific Reports, Peer Reviewed Journal DR Michael showed that Lactobacillus Acidophilus resulted in significant weight reduction in humans.

Upon completion of the trial, it was confirmed that the administered probiotic bacteria successfully withstood the presence of bile acids within the digestive system. However, cholesterol levels and plasma lipids remained unaltered. Notably, after a span of six months, significant reductions were observed in body weight, BMI, waist circumference, and waist-to-height ratio among the participants.

The trial enlisted 220 participants residing in Bulgaria, who possessed a body mass index (BMI) ranging from 25 to 34.9 kg/m2. Prior to their participation, these individuals provided written consent and received compensation for their involvement. The probiotic strains used were the same Bio X4 probiotic blend I listed previously.

2. Lactobacillus Rhamnosus Achieves Weight Loss

In 2004, a randomized controlled trial was conducted and subsequently published in the peer-reviewed British Journal of Nutrition by M Sanchez found Lactobacillus Rhamnosus CGMCC1.3724 probiotic bacteria helped obese women achieve sustainable weight loss in humans.

The trial spanned a duration of 24 weeks, during which participants were assigned to either an undisclosed placebo group or a group instructed to consume two capsules of a probiotic supplement containing 1.6 million colony-forming units (CFUs). This probiotic formulation included Bio X4 L. Rhamnosus bacteria and oligofructose/inulin prebiotic bacteria, to be taken once daily.

Based on the study's findings, it was concluded that the effects of Lactobacillus rhamnosus bacteria took time to manifest in women, and successful weight management necessitated both the consumption of the probiotic supplement and calorie restriction. The reason for the differential response to Lactobacillus rhamnosus bacteria between men and women in this study remains unclear.

3. Lactobacillus Plantarum Does Not Help With Weight Loss

A 2022 South-Korean study published in the Frontiers In Endocrinology authored by M Sohn, looked at the efficacy & safety of a 4-billion CFU probiotic containing gram-positive Lactobacillus Plantarum K50 bacteria. The study showed that L. Plantarum did not help with weight loss in humans.

Through a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, clinical trial they tested the bacteria containing 81 South Koreans with a 25–30 kg/m2 BMI for a short period of 12 weeks.

To confirm if the bacteria had any impact it was decided that fat mass, anthropometric parameters, cholesterol levels, and other biomarkers for obesity would all be measured before and after.

At the end of the trial, it was noted that abdominal fat was unchanged in probiotic or placebo groups and there was no noted weight loss. One interesting finding however was that total cholesterol levels dropped in the probiotic group, and so did triglyceride levels and also leptin levels.

Another 2022 study authored by Y. Ma can reduce the body weight of mice fed high-fat diet but Bio X4 is a probiotic brand for humans and not for animals like mice. 

4. Bifidobacterium Lactis Does Not Reduce Body Fat

A 2021 published, randomized controlled trial from the University of Medical Sciences in Poznan, Poland, authored by D Czajeczny showed no significant changes in body fat were observed in either the placebo or Bifidobacterium lactis BS01 group. 

This trial investigated the effects of both Bifidobacterium lactis BS01 and Lactobacillus acidophilus LA02 on a cohort of 38 females aged between 19 and 33 years over a period of 6 months. Participants were randomly assigned to either receive daily supplementation of the probiotics or a placebo.

Various metrics including body mass, BMI, arm skinfold fat, body fat percentage, and waist circumference were assessed at the beginning and end of the trial.

5. Bifidobacterium Animalis Reduces Abdominal Fat

A 2016 study authored by Shota Takahashi noted that versus placebo, Bifidobacterium Animalis probiotic bacteria did reduce abdominal visceral fat but did not reduce the subcutaneous fat area or total body weight. The bacteria were able to increase mucin secretion & IgA production which was thought to help with intestinal barrier function.

The study tested the efficacy of Bifidobacterium Animalis ssp. Lactis GCL2505 on "visceral fat accumulation" in Japanese adults with a BMI 23–30 kg/m2 which by World Health Organization standards categorized them as overweight or obese. Other than that blood & urine tests showed them to be in good health.

The study instructed participants to avoid taking any other probiotic foods during the 12-week trial and instead take an 8-Billion CFU fermented milk drink containing only B. Lactis GCL2505 bacteria.

6. Amylase May Help With Fat Loss

Amylase is an enzyme that facilitates the breakdown of complex carbohydrates into simpler sugars. Supplementing with an amylase may help with weight loss and fat loss according to a "Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of a Proprietary Alpha-Amylase Inhibitor from White Bean."

7. Bromelain Hasn't Been Studied For Weight Loss

Bromelain is a proteolytic enzyme found in pineapple that aids in the digestion of proteins. This enzyme may help metabolise proteins that could help cut down fat but presently there are no studies on Bromelain for weight loss.

8. Lipase Can Cause Weight Gain

Lipase is an enzyme responsible for the breakdown of fats and triglycerides into smaller molecules, such as fatty acids and glycerol. According to Mount Sinai the New York medical hospital, Lipase can induce modest weight gain compared to placebo groups.

9. Green Tea Extract High Dose Triggers Weight Loss

Green tea extract is a concentrated form of beneficial compounds derived from green tea leaves, known for its potential health-promoting properties and antioxidant effects.

One randomized clinical controlled trial from the National Yang-Ming University, Taiwan authored by IJ Chen showed that 856.8 mg of Green Tea Extract taken daily resulted in significant weight loss.

1 capsule of Bio X4 contains a low 100mg dose of green tea extract so it is unlikely to mimic these weight loss results.

10. Caralluma Fimbriata Extract Helps With Appetite Control

Caralluma fimbriata extract is a concentrated form of a natural plant extract derived from the Caralluma fimbriata cactus.

A 2021 study by the University of Sydney & University of Queensland and authored by Amanda Rao (PhD) found that Caralluma Fimbriata extract taken daily for 16 weeks may help maintain body weight and help with appetite control in obese adults.

May Support Weight Loss

After analysing Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Bifidobacterium lactis, amylase, bromelain, lipase, green tea extract, and caralluma fimbriata extract the ingredients inside of Bio X4 I can conclude that it may help with supporting weight loss.

The effectiveness of Bio X4 in promoting weight loss varies depending on the specific ingredient. Lactobacillus acidophilus has shown significant weight reduction effects in humans, while Lactobacillus rhamnosus has demonstrated sustainable weight loss in obese women. However, Lactobacillus plantarum did not contribute to weight loss in the studied population.

Bifidobacterium lactis did not lead to significant changes in body fat, and the effects of Bifidobacterium animalis were observed in reducing abdominal visceral fat specifically. Amylase, an enzyme that aids in carbohydrate breakdown, may help with weight loss. Bromelain, lipase, and green tea extract have not been extensively studied for their direct effects on weight loss.

Caralluma fimbriata extract has shown potential in helping with appetite control and maintaining body weight in obese adults.

Therefore, while some ingredients in Bio X4 may have shown positive effects on weight loss or appetite control in specific studies, the overall impact of Bio X4 on weight loss cannot be determined without further research specifically targeting the combination of ingredients in the product.

Expect Minor Side Effects

Taking Bio X4 can result in minor side effects for some people. Whilst the probiotic supplement is safe for adults some side effects include diarrhea, minor bloating, and stomach pain.

This happens when people first start to include probiotics in their diet and their gut adjusts to the new bacteria strains. 

Users may however then experience relief from diarrhea once the microbiome settles and adjusts to the 5 Bio X4 probiotic bacteria strains.

Can Bio x4 Raise Blood Pressure?

The caffeinated green tea content inside of Bio X4 can actually significantly lower systolic blood pressure according to a study called "Effect of green tea supplementation on blood pressure" authored by Renfan Xu and published in Medicine (Baltimore).

It Has A lot Of Reviews

Nucific 4-in-1 weight management has over 8,900 customer reviews on amazon with a 3.8 out of 5 star rating on Amazon which isn't great but not terrible either.

Bifidobacterium Longum 35624

The B. 35625 probiotic strain used in the 24/7 digestive supplement has been clinically studied in humans for various digestive health issues. This new study published in 2022 in the peer-reviewed World Journal of Gastroenterology was carried out by the Department of Gastroenterology at Ambroise Paré Hospital in France.

The study claimed that the 35624 strain had previously been shown to improve symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome in patients versus placebo. Their study looked to once again test the efficacy of Bifidobacterium longum 35624 on the quality of life in IBS patients and overall IBS severity.

There is a plethora of probiotics promising great gut health. Let’s examine how Align stacks up against some alternatives I have tried.

TruNature - Align and Trunature are probiotic brands I have tried with some differences. For starters, Align is an established brand with just Bifidobacterium infantis, while Trunature is a newer brand with a blend of 10 strains, providing a wider range of benefits.

Both are effective in promoting gut health, but individual results may vary due to various factors but Trunature is a solid option if you are looking for a more diverse hit of probiotic strains.

Kefir Milk - Align probiotic supplement and kefir milk are both popular choices for improving gut health, but they differ in their formulation, mode of delivery and cost with Kefir being far cheaper.

Align is a probiotic supplement that contains a single strain of probiotic bacteria, while kefir is a fermented milk drink that contains a variety of probiotic strains. Kefir also contains other beneficial nutrients, such as calcium, protein, and vitamins.

Hyperbiotics Pro-15 is produced in a GMP-certified facility in the US and is free from any GMO, yeast, soy, iron, gluten, wheat, preservatives, sugar, artificial colors, artificial flavors, chemicals, and nuts.

Hyperbiotics Pro-15 Ingredients

Hyperbiotics Pro-15 contains the following Probiotic strains:

Lacotbacillus Acidophilus & Lactobacillus Rhamnosus

This 2017 study published in the International Journal of Immunopathology and Pharmacology looked at the effects of Lactobacillus Rhamnosus & Lactobacillus Acidophilus two strains inside Pro 15 on bacterial vaginal pathogens.

The results showed that the Lactobacilli were synergic against S. aureus, E. Coli, G. vaginalis, and A. vaginae. They were said to be promising tools for protection against bacterial vaginosis and Aerobic vaginitis potentially helping restore pH levels.

Lactobacillus Plantarum

This 2022 study published in the Frontiers of Endocrinology looked at if 4 Billion CFU of Lactobacillus Plantarum taken for 12 weeks could help with weight loss whilst also checking if for safety and efficacy.

Groups took either a placebo or L. Plantarum and it was found that the probiotic bacteria did not help with weight loss. It did however alter the microbiota. It did however reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels and adverse events were reported.

How to take Hyperbiotics Pro-15

You can take 1 to 3 capsules a day, as recommended by the manufacturer. The company recommends taking one pill a day for daily maintenance, while you can take up to 3 capsules a day for intense therapy.

It would be best if you took it before food, preferably on an empty stomach as taking it after a meal may not provide benefits for any symptoms you are having.

Hyperbiotics Pro-15 Side Effects

Most people seemed to suffer from no side effect after taking Hyperbiotics Pro-15, but I suffered from several side effects such as constipation, gas, diarrhea, stomach cramps after taking Pro-15. These side effects stopped after a couple of days.

This may have to do with my earlier stomach issues. Still, I also didn't feel any significant benefit for my ongoing yeast infection and was disappointed with Hyperbiotics Pro-15 as had high hopes from this probiotic.

It wasn't as great as Jarrow Female Probiotics which worked well when it was still in stock, and I bought it for my antibiotics effects.

Are the Hyperbiotics Pro-15 Reviews Fake?

In October 2019, Hyperbiotics had only 72 customer Hyperbiotics Reviews on their Amazon Profile with a 3.6 rating.

Today around 6 months later, HyperBiotics have over 8,600 reviews currently on Amazon. With such a large number some people might ask themselves are they fake Hyperbiotics Reviews?

Currently in May 2023 they have a 4.5 out of 5 star rating with over 13,383 amazon reviews.

After reading some of the 5-star reviews (left within days of each other) in my opinion, they seem to lack depth and are a bit shallow.

How Does Hyperbiotics Compare To Other Probiotics?

My research into Hyperbiotic did bring up some questionable findings regarding the validity of their customer reviews. I compared Hyperbiotic's Pro-15 with Total Restore another gut supplement and could see that the reviews for Total Restore appeared to be more genuine when looking across all their social media platforms. 

Hyperbiotic's also claimed to help with weight loss because of their Lactobacillus Plantarum strain but a study I found did not back up this claim. On the other hand, 1MD contains Lactobacillus Gasseri which is a better strain for weight loss based on research so I would say that there are other better probiotic supplements out there for weight issues.

Final Thoughts

I had to stop taking it due to intense stomach cramps, which were sometimes too painful. I was not expecting side effects, and my body’s reaction to the strains contained in this probiotic was unexpected. I couldn’t feel any improvement in my stomach issues even after taking it for almost a week.

You can buy Hyperbiotics Pro-15 if you want as the product has thousands of positive online reviews. Although, it didn’t work in my case, and this may have to do with my ongoing stomach issues.

Due to no results in my case, I can’t vouch for this product. Other customers need to make their own decisions based on the information available as the product may not work for everyone.

In this Llama Naturals Review, I am going to dive deep and take a look at their Probiotic Gummies to see if they are worth buying or not.

I'll also be trying to figure out why they are called Llama Naturals.

Llama Naturals Probiotic Gummies

Their prebiotic and probiotic gummies remain the mainstay of their offering and come in two different versions: one for adults and one for kids. All of the products marketed by Llama Naturals used plant-based, natural ingredients. 

These gummies also contain dietary fiber and sugars with each jar containing 60 gummies that are sufficient for 30 days. A single bottle of prebiotic & probiotic gummies costs $24.95 at Llama Naturals website and $25.95 at Amazon.

In addition to prebiotic & probiotic gummies for adults, Llama Naturals also sells a kid's version of their gummies that contain almost identical ingredients and is very highly rated on Amazon and other review sites. 

The only difference between the adult and kid versions is the lower CFU count in the kid's version where the total CFU count is just 1 billion CFU per gummy instead of 5 billion CFU for adults.

The kid's gummies are also priced lower with a single bottle selling for $22.95 at Llama Naturals site, $23.95 at Amazon, and 1 dollar more at Walmart.

My Experience With Llama Naturals

Their gummies are quite good for digestive health, and I personally tried them for a month before writing this review.

The gummies come in peach mango flavor and do not leave your mouth too sugary. I felt as if I was eating a real mango and the taste was just great.

I was able to improve my digestive health and relieve my irregular bowel movements with the help of these gummies.

These gummies also helped me with my constipation which I had been unable to treat using other probiotic supplements. This 2020 Randomized Controlled Trial claimed that B. Coagulans was able to decrease symptoms of constipation.

Llama Naturals Allergens and Side Effects

Llama Naturals prebiotic and probiotic gummies are free from common allergens and are not known to have severe side effects.

Some people though reported having minor side effects such as gas troubles, bloating etc. in the initial days.

It's quite common to have such side effects when taking probiotics according to healthline and this is not something that is unique to Llama Naturals.

Llama Naturals Ingredients

Llama Naturals prebiotic and probiotic gummies contain Bacillus Subtilis DE111, Bacillus Coagulans UAS along with organic Xylooligosaccharides, dietary fiber, and sugar.

Each gummy contains 500 million CFUs of both the bacillus strains and collectively has 1 billion CFU count.

This 2020 study found that B. Subtilis DE11 was able to modify gut microbiome positively in children aged 2 - 6 years old. This means it may help with Dysbiosis.

LLama Naturals Reviews

Llama Natural's adult probiotic gummies have over 235 real customer reviews on amazon and a 4.3 out of 5 star rating which isn't perfect but does indicate that the gummies are not a scam.

In May 2020, Brooke who was confirmed to have purchased Llama Gummies shared that the taste was excellent and they were easy to eat. She didn't share any feedback related to her digestive health.

Another customer called Nicole praised the taste and colorful packaging but didn't share if the Bacillus probiotic bacteria had any effect on her gut health. She did mention that shipping was fast.

In 2021, Alycia shared that after taking Llama's probiotics for 3 days she began to start experiencing gas and general digestive side effects. This persisted for 2 weeks but the effects continued. Her review does show that the probiotic bacteria was starting to work in her gut and it would have been interesting to see what happened if she stuck it out for a full month.

Belive is one of the top gummy supplement brands in the world and was sold last year for over 10 million dollars. As a nutritionist I am always looking for new supplements to support my client's gut health.

In this review, I will be sharing what happened when I took Belive Probiotic's for 30-days and sharing an interesting study on Bacillus Coagulans the dominant probiotic strain inside Belive.

Ingredients/ Bacteria Strains

BeLive's Probiotic Gummies (no affiliate link) contain Bacillus Coagulans just like the popular Olly Gummies, a medically-proven probiotic strain, at 5 Billion CFU per serving (the highest potency of any probiotic supplement available). The full list of ingredients is as follows:

All of these ingredients are 100% natural and 100% vegan, so there is no need to worry about any animal products or synthetic additives in these gummies. Bacillus Coagulans are also feature Naturelo & Mary Ruth's two other great vegan probiotics that made my top vegan probiotics of 2022 guide.

In 2020, an observational study was published in the Medicine journal looking at the efficacy of Bacillus Coagulans on symptoms from functional bowel disorders. 38 patients in the study took a 1 billion CFU of B. Coagulans twice per day for 1-month. It was concluded that abdominal pain, and abdominal distention improved, and constipation also improved.

John Li was one of the first to pioneer probiotic gummies with first mover advantage his gummies managed to rack up 5,500+ customer reviews and earn an impressive 4.5 out of 5-star rating.

Users compared them favorably to more expensive probiotic supplement products available on the market, claiming that they made bowel movements more consistent even more effectively than more expensive products, and reporting improved digestive health. 

Users also praised the taste and texture of the gummies, saying that they were very easy to take and comparing them to candy. By all accounts, these gummies are very easy for kids to take.

In 2018 a real-life Karen decided to give BeLive a 1-star review after she and her husband experienced diarrhea after taking the gummies. Studies have shown that Diarrhea is a common side effect when taking probiotics but it does mean the gram-positive B. Coagulan's bacteria is working and doing its job in the colon.

My 30-Day Experience

After ordering my Probiotic Gummies, they arrived very quickly. They came in a bottle of 70 gummies. I decided to take two daily (the maximum recommended dosage) for just over a month, and monitor any effects on my IBS symptoms.

Unfortunately, I have had IBS for many years and tried various products over the years with varying results. IBS frequently gives me pain in my gut, bloating and gas, and alternating periods of diarrhea and constipation. I was hopeful yet skeptical about how well this product would work after seeing many bold claims about other products before.

I took 2 of the gummies once a day after breakfast in the morning. The first thing I noticed was the taste which was a little strange at first. The gummies are advertised as being strawberry and orange-flavored, which is fairly accurate. After a while, the taste became pleasant - the gummies are sweet despite containing only natural sugars.

As the month went on, I noticed a definite reduction in my IBS symptoms - pain and bloating was less frequent and less severe. My bowel movements were also more regular - no more waking up and wondering if I'd either be running to the toilet all day or painfully constipated. By the end of the month, the relief was significant.

My symptoms don't mean you will have the same benefits. I am not a medical professional.

Side Effects

Personally, I experienced no side effects with this product. However, everyone is different, so it is always worth checking before you try a new supplement product.

I did not find any reports of side-effects in any of the reviews that I read, and as the product is free from dairy, nuts, gluten, soy, seafood, and GMOs, it seems very unlikely that anybody would suffer an allergic reaction.

It's difficult to make a direct comparison between Belive Probiotic Gummies and others because Belive is a solid option. However, Llama Naturals Probiotic Gummies have a few advantages that may make them a better option for some people.

One of the main advantages of Llama Naturals Probiotic Gummies is that they are made with organic and non-GMO ingredients.

Additionally, Llama Naturals Probiotic Gummies are gluten-free, soy-free, and dairy-free, which makes them suitable for people with dietary restrictions.

Another advantage of Llama Naturals Probiotic Gummies is that they have a higher potency of probiotics per serving compared to Belive Probiotic Gummies.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I was very impressed with Belive's Probiotic Gummies. The results on my digestive health were certainly noticeable (unlike some other products that I have tried in the past).

The taste was reasonably pleasant, and at only just over $15.50 from the official website, (no affiliate link) the product was much more affordable than other similar options.

I would certainly recommend this product, not just for vegans looking for a probiotic supplement, but also for non-vegans. I can't think of any criticisms of this product.
